Review : Real Techniques brushes (core collection, blush brush, expert face brush)

Hola chicas! Today I’m gonna review for you some of my favorite makeup brushes and these are the Real Techniques brushes by Samantha Chapman or Pixiwoo on Youtube, I’m sure you know her and her sister and if you don’t, then you should definitely check them out! I own the Core Collection and 2 individual brushes, the Blush Brush and the Face Brush, but I wanna get more! Before continuing with the review, I must mention that each of these brushes is multi-purpose, so the blush brush is not solely for blush, and down below I’ll mention how I use each brush and other ways you can use them.

I’ve been using the brushes for about 2 months now and they’re pretty good quality, they don’t shed, which is really important to me, as I can’t stand putting makeup on and using a brush that leaves hairs on my face, and they wash really well, they’re pretty easy to clean. They seem pretty well made and the handles haven’t become loose so far. The cool thing about them is that the handle of the bigger brushes is flat on the end, so you can stand them up on your vanity! All the brushes are really soft and they’re made of synthetic hairs, which makes them great for vegans and to use with both powder and cream products, as synthetic hairs don’t absorb a lot of product. I find that they pick up the right amount of product and they distribute it on the skin easily and nicely.

You can click on the pictures if you want to view them bigger.

It contains 4 brushes and it also comes with a panoramic case, which serves as a brush case and as a brush stand. Cool!

Contour Brush : Small, tapered brush that is great for contouring or highlighting, as it is small enough to give you the control that you need. You could also use it to blend in your concealer, either under your eyes or on larger areas of your face, like around the nose. The hairs are put together neither loose nor firm, so it will apply just the right amount of product, whether that’s bronzer to contour or highlighter..

Pointed Foundation Brush : It’s too small to be a foundation brush, but it’s great for concealer or if you want to blend your foundation on areas that are hard to reach, like around the nose, the mouth etc. I like this brush, but I think it would be great if it was bigger, so that I could use it as an actual foundation brush.

Detailer Brush : It’s excellent for spot concealing and also for applying highlighter on the inner corner of the eye. You could also use it as a lip brush if you wanted, as it’s small enough. Not my favorite brush in general, I would prefer another brush in the set instead of this, simply because I rarely use these small detailer brushes.

Buffing Brush : It’s not perfectly flat like say the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush, it’s actually a little bit round on the top. The hairs are put together neither loose nor firm, so it serves different purposes. Excellent for powder, blush or even a light application of foundation. You could also use it after you’re done with your makeup to buff everything in.

Will I sound really superficial and materialistic if I say that I love the way this brush looks?? It has a pink ferrule and it’s shaped like a tulip! Excellent for powder, blush and bronzer, as the hairs are quite loose and they don’t deposit a lot of product on your skin, plus the tulip shape gives you more control on application. If you asked me how it compares to the Sigma F25 Tapered Face Brush, I’d say that the Real Techniques one is more tapered and quite pointy, whereas the Sigma one is a bit more fluffy and quite round at the top. I love both brushes, so it depends solely on what you prefer.

This brush is quite flat on the sides with a rounded top and it’s great for foundation if you want a bit more coverage, as it’s dense and quite firm. Since it’s not a huge brush it gives you a lot of control and with it you can get to areas that are hard to reach, like the sides of the nose, your jawline etc. You could also use it for heavier contouring if you wanted. I really like this brush!

In general I’m really happy with my Real Techniques brushes and of course I want to get more, as there’s no such thing as “too many brushes”, right? Check this link out on where you can find these brushes, whether you’re an American or International customer. I’d say that if you don’t live in the USA, then iherb is by far the cheapest place to get them and if you’re a first time customer there, then you can use my code if you want and get $5 off if your order is under $40 and $10 off if your order is over $40, so we both win! ;) My code is TQP309

Have you tried these brushes? What did you think of them? I want to try the powder brush and the eye brushes set next, if you’ve tried them let me know what you think of them!
